Common Faults We're Called Out For
On heat pumps, the usual culprits are low system pressure, a frozen outdoor unit that isn't defrosting properly, a faulty sensor, or a refrigerant or compressor fault that needs a manufacturer-trained engineer. Vaillant and Samsung units both show specific error codes on the controller, which usually point us straight to the problem before we've even opened the casing.
On older oil and LPG boilers, it's more often ignition failure, a failed pump, an oil supply issue, or a worn thermostat or programmer. Being this close to the coast, outdoor heat pump units can also pick up salt-air corrosion or debris over the years, which we check for on any repair visit.
We carry common parts on the van. Manufacturer-specific parts for Vaillant or Samsung units that aren't in stock may need ordering, and we'll tell you honestly if that's the case rather than guess at a same-day fix.
